The allowance in plain English
Two items (main + small) share 7 kg on Starter fares. Paid top-ups to 14 kg exist.
* Jetstar allows a small personal item that must fit under the seat in front, without publishing a size. We use 40 x 30 x 15 cm as a conservative target.
If the bag fails the check
Bags over size or weight at the gate are charged a gate fee and moved to the hold. Buying extra carry-on weight in Manage Booking is always cheaper than paying at the airport.
Packing tips for Jetstar
- Weigh both items together: the 7 kg cap is shared, not per bag.
- Choose a light shell. A 2.8 kg suitcase leaves you only 4.2 kg for clothes.
- Kiosks at major airports weigh carry-on at bag drop, so pack to 6.5 kg for margin.
Rules last checked October 2026 against Jetstar's own baggage page. Fare type, route and status can change your allowance, so confirm in your booking.
